Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, on Tuesday inaugurated committees for the establishment of five tertiary institutions in the state.
The proposed institutions are: Gombe State University of Science and Technology; College of Agriculture; College of Accounting and Management Studies; Institute of Journalism and Institute of Sports.
Dankwambo, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Charles Iliya, said the aim of establishing more schools was to boost tertiary education.
He said the action was part of implementation of the blue print by the high powered committee set up at the inception of his administration for development of the state`s education sector.
He said part of the recommendations had been implemented in the area of Basic Education, construction, remodelling and expansion of secondary schools in the state, among others.
“We have also improved the funding of Gombe State University and constructed the clinical arm of the college of medical sciences.
“We aim to train our teaming youths to become good citizens of Gombe State and the nation at large”, he said.
Dankwambo said that all the committees were expected to submit their reports within two weeks of their inauguration.
