Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed former Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Mohammed Wakili (Rtd), as his Security Adviser.
Super Cop Wakili was the Police Commissioner in charge of Kano state during the February 2019 general elections, where he exhibited utmost professionalism in providing election security in the versatile and politically tensed state.
He was also said to have rejected huge financial inducements from the political class, thereby insisting on free, fair and credible processes all through the elections.
In a statement on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant to Gombe Governor on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya also appointed a retired Army officer, Col. Sani Adamu Dabsiya as Special Adviser on security matters.
Also appointed by the Governor are, Dijatu Bappah, as Special Adviser on Social Investment; Alh. Garba Jijji Gadam, Special Adviser on Inter-Governmental Relations and Geoffrey Namu Birba, Special Adviser on Drugs and Narcotics.
Others include, Hamma Adama Ali Kumo, Special Adviser on House of Assembly Matters and Abubakar Inuwa Tata, Chairman, Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
The statement said Governor Yahaya also forwarded the names of 18 Commissioners-designate to the state House of Assembly for confirmation as members of the state executive council.
Recall that the Governor had earlier vowed to send the list of the Commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly before 1st October.
According to the statement, “all appointments are with immediate effect”.
