God used Jonathan to reinstate me as Governor – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has explained why he is passionate about the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Fayose at a radio/television programmed in the state, noted that he never hid his admiration for Jonathan because he is a loyal and straightforward person.

He said: “I am a very loyal person and the essence of life is to be loyal and God demands it from us in the areas of righteousness and consecration.

“We can only be that if we are loyal to God. And God demands loyalty from us.”

Continuing, he said: “Jonathan has been good to me and I have to be loyal to him too. A president removed me from office and God used Jonathan as another president to reinstate me.”

He described Jonathan as a humble man who “does not muzzle people like an average Nigerian president. A dictator is always one and the truth is constant.”

Fayose also expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would emerge victorious in the coming polls.

On the finances of Ekiti State, Fayose explained that the state only got N2.5 billion allocation for February and generated N300 million internally, but had a commitment of over N3.5 billion, leaving a deficit of over N700 million.

He said: “The situation in the local government is even too critical. They have a shortfall of over N275 million and they are in a serious dilemma.

“We are not daunted and will continue to soldier on and ensure the development of our state within available resources.”

Meanwhile, two officials of the Ekiti State Government have been suspended by the state government over illegal deductions from the salaries of teachers in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state.

The two officials – R.K. Owoseni, a former Education Secretary in Ido Osi Local Government Area, and F.F. Kayode, an accountant – were also given four weeks to prove their innocence before a committee set up to investigate the matter.

They were accused of illegally deducting money from the salaries of teachers in the local government under the guise of deducting money for the repayment of laptop computers given to public teachers by the former administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
