Giwa FC players complain over unpaid salaries as expulsion from NPFL looms

Players of Giwa FC are unhappy over the failure of the club’s management, to pay their salaries for several months now.

They are also worried about the uncertainties surrounding them, as the Jos club will be expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), if they fail to honour a second successive league fixture this weekend.

Last weekend, Giwa players failed to show up at the Ilorin Stadium for the match against Wikki Tourists, which meant there was a walk over.

If they fail to honour their next match away at Abia Warriors on Sunday, they will be thrown out of the NPFL, as stipulated in the rules of the competition.

“We don’t know what next for us here. All we do is to go to training and come back. We are not happy at all,” one of the players told AfricanFootball.com

“We went to Jos stadium last weekend for the game against Wikki and there were no referees for the game. We the players are in dilemma right now and every day we get frustrated.”

Another player revealed that they have not been paid salaries too.

“We are being owed salary, some four months, some three and others two months,” he said.
