Giwa attempts forceful takeover of NFF secretariat

The Chris Giwa-led faction of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), attempted to take over the headquarters of the body in Abuja on Friday.

Thugs believed to be loyal to Giwa, stormed the Glass House in several cars and tried to gain access to the offices. They were resisted by the staff present.

In the ensuing melee, Christian Emeruwa, NFF’s national security officer, Tunde Aderibigbe, NFF’s coordinator on political matters and Ademola Olajire, the federation’s head of communications, were assaulted.

Some of Giwa’s supporters who followed him to the NFF office were Effiong Johnson, Sani Fema, Rumson Baribote, Ben Agary, Yahaya Adama, Jide Fashikun, Fatai Olayinka, and Abdulazeez Mohammed.

The police later intervened and restored normalcy.
