In its efforts to rid the state civil service of ghost workers, the Plateau State government has concluded arrangement to computerise the entire workforce in the state, numbering 13, 600 and provide computer identification card to all of its workers.
The State Head of Service, Mr Izam Azi, disclosed this yesterday in a chat with journalists in Jos, the state capital.
Azi said, “I want to assured you that the computerization will help checkmate the issues of civil servants updating their files just to make adjustment that will favour them or change some record to add the years of their retirement, but the computerization will help us to monitor those who are supposed to retired.”
He further disclosed that the state currently has a civil service strength of thirteen thousand, six hundred civil servants excluding the political appointees, saying the computerisation will fight the issue of ghost workers in the state.
He also maintained that the state government will provide identification card to all civil servants for security reasons.
The Head of Service advised workers to always take their job serious, warning that staying away from their primary responsibilities will not be tolerated.
