Former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, has revealed Philippe Coutinho was so good in training that he told him to “stay away” from him.
Coutinho is returning to form following his return to the Liverpool side.
The Brazilian playmaker failed to force a move to Barcelona last summer and will stay at Andfield.
The 25-year-old scored his first goal of the season in his side’s 3-2 win over Leicester on Sunday, with a stunning free-kick and also put in a fine display.
“He’s impossible to defend against; when I used to train with him I’d hate it when I was on the opposition five-a-side team.
“I wouldn’t go near him and sometimes i told him to keep away from me because he can embarrass you. If he stands you up he can go both ways.
“He’s got such a low centre of gravity, he’s so sharp, so quick and he’s two or three steps ahead of defenders, he’s so, so clever,” Gerrard said, speaking as a pundit on BT Sport.
