Gbajabiamila says due process will be followed in deciding Jibrin’s allegations against Dogara, othe

Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has stated that the Lower Chamber of the House will follow due process in the allegations of budget padding leveled against some principal officers of the House of Representatives.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, had stated  that some members of the Green Chamber were already plotting to impeach the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

Alleging that the speaker had on Monday begged members of the North-East caucus in the House for forgiveness over his role in the alleged padding of the 2016 budget, Jibrin insisted that the Speaker must resign to allow for independent investigation into alleged budget infractions.

But reacting to the allegations in a brief conversation with journalists yesterday, the House Leader said: “Whatever the House decides to do will follow due process,” adding that: “The majority of members will decide the case.”

Jibrin had since July 20 accused Dogara alongside Deputy Speaker, Yussuf Suleiman Lasun, chief whip, Alhassan Ado Doguwa and minority leader, Leo Ogor of padding the 2016 budget.

Recall that few days to resumption of the Reps members from a two-month recess, the former Appropriation Committee Chairman had written to members of the House, calling on them to pressurize Speaker Yakubu Dogara and the three others he accused of padding the 2016 budget to resign.
