The Committee set up by the Kano State House of Assembly to investigate the authenticity of a video clip allegedly showing Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje receiving bribe, has summoned the Editor-in-Chief of Daily Nigerian, Malam Ja’afar Ja’afar, to appear before it.
Daily Nigerian is an online Newspaper that published the controversial video clip.
The committee’s Secretary, Mujtafa Aminu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.
Aminu said the committee had in a letter dated Oct. 19, 2018 requested Ja’afar to appear before the committee on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Assembly’s Complex.
He said adequate security had been provided for the safety of the Journalist as he was expected to answer questions on the publication and the video clips released by his online newspaper. According to him, the committee had already visited the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Rabi’u Yusuf, and the state Director of DSS with a view to soliciting their support to provide security at the Complex, venue of the sitting.
The assembly had on Monday constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the matter.
Members of the committee constituted by the speaker, Alhassan Rurum, include: Labaran Madari (Warawa) member; Garba Gafasa (Ajingi), member; and Zubairu Masu, (Sumaila) member.
Others are: Ayuba Labaran (Kabo) member; Abubakar Galadima (Bebeji), member; Garba Yau Gwarmai (Kunchi/Tsanyawa), member and; Mujtafa Amin, secretary.
