Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state, has approved the payment of N883, 690, 311.00 as gratuity to 443 retired civil servants, including those who have died in service.
A statement from the Director of Press Affairs to the governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego made available to Journalists in Damaturu, said the payment covered civil servants who have retired or died between April 2014 and October 2015 only.
The statement said, “earlier the Committee set up by the governor to verify retiree claims had verified and paid N300 million to 154 civil servants who retired between January and March, 2014.
“The Committee is now working to verify all other civil servants who have retired (or died) from November 2015 to date. Further payments to beneficiaries will follow as the Committee conducts its assignment and submits its report.”
“As part of His Excellency Governor Gaidam’s commitment to workers’ welfare, the Yobe State Government will remain steadfast in meeting all its obligations to workers in government employ.” The statement added.
