Funke Akindele returns in ‘Maami’ [Video]

Funke Akindele, still basking in the euphoria of her Jenifa sequel, is set to dazzle fans even more in a new movie titled ‘Maami’. The film is the latest brainwve of ace Cinematographer/Director, Tunde Kelani and also features Wole Ojo, Olumide Bakare, Tamilore Kuboye, Ayomide Abati, etc.There are special guest appearances by Yinka Davies, Kayode Balogun, Fatai Rolling Dollar, and Biodun Kupoluyi.

Maami is the inspiring story of a poor conscientious single mother’s struggle to raise her only child Kashimawo, who, eventually, rises to international stardom in an English football club, Arsenal, and becomes a national hero. Adapted by Tunde Babalola, from Femi Osofisan’s novel, of the same name, this film is about love, perseverance, and fate. The movie unfolds though Kashimawo’s reminiscences of his hardscrabble childhood in the southern Nigerian town, Abeokuta.

The much anticipated movie is scheduled to hit Nigerian cinemas in February 2012.
