Fulani Radio: Ex-CAN chairman condemns alleged move to Islamise Nigeria

The former Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Presiding Arch Bishop of Intercessor Bible Mission, Arch Bishop Archibong Isemin Archibong, has condemned the alleged attempt by Federal Government to Islaminzed Nigeria and the establishment of a Fulani radio station.

Speaking to DAILY POST in Calabar on Tuesday, the Arch-Bshop Archibong, lamented the attitude of the Federal Government, “If a leader comes up or decides to establish a radio station using the tax payers money to fund a particular group, the Fulanis, giving them a radio station, I think it is unfair.

“If he does that to the Fulanis, he must do same to other groups including farmers. I think, any right thinking person will condemn it in totality, I personally condemn such act, it does not show sportsmanship, it does not show fatherhood, fatherhood begins with integrity, there is no integrity in leader who does that.

“I condemn it out rightly, that it is unfair, it is partial and it is improper for a leader to become partial, it does not speak well of him. From what we have heard, I don’t think any leader should engage himself in such an act.”

Arch-Bishop Archibong explained that a leader is a father, the President of a nation is a father and a true father must not show partiality, he must not appear to favour one section against the other, “You cannot out rightly love one group, love one child and hate the others irrespective of the party”

Consequently, the Arch-Bishop advised the President, “My advice to the President is that, he must understand who he is, he is there as a father, he is there, not representing the party, though the party brought him, the party that brought him is not a winner take all, after winning, bring back everybody, the thing I want him to do is that, he should not only carry APC but carry everybody along.

“President Buhari should carry everybody along, every group is important and let them work as a team, if they work as a team, they will take Nigeria forward, but if they are sectional, tribalistic or bring division into play, there will be problem.

He said for the nation to move forward, there is need for us to be united, unity in purpose and unity in diversity.

“I think, what the President need do, is to set his house in order, try to see how he can carry everybody along. The more people he carried along, the better and he should listen to the people, his government should be inclusive, so that the people should fill a sense of belonging but when he say, they didn’t vote him and therefore he should concentrate on those who voted him, then he ended up dividing us.”
