Fulani herdsmen: What Ortom told Lalong, El-Rufai, others during Benue visit

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has disclosed that people of the state are still in fear of more attacks from Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking when he received some governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital, Ortom alleged that some communities are still under siege of Fulani herdsmen.

The governor said the fear of the people was due to the continuous threat by the herdsmen who keep issuing daily threat to take over Benue land.

Ortom said, “We thank God that peace is gradually returning to the state but there are still pockets of challenges here, we know the challenges will soon be over because our people are always alert to give useful information to security operatives around.

“Let me tell you that our people are still living in fear and under siege, living in fear because of the series of threats by Kautal Hore which started the threat since seven months ago, they are not mere threat.

“We have evidence against them, what we are saying is that the federal government should arrest the leadership of Kautal Hore”.

The delegation led by the Borno State Governor, Shetima Kashim, also had in attendance Simon Lalong of Plateau, Mallam El-Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Mohamad Abubakar of Jigawa State as well as the deputy governor of Osun state, Chief Mrs Grace Titilayo Tomori .
