An All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Mr. Dele Alade has urged the federal government not to handle the incessant attacks of Fulani Herdsmen in the country with levity.
He said the killings and destruction of people’s property in the Southern region shows they might have been infiltrated by Boko Haram members.
The aspirant, who is a judge in New York, and the national leader of the APC in the United States, stated this when addressing reporters at his campaign office in Akure, the state capital.
Alade commended the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on his recent action towards curbing the incessant attacks of the Fulani castle rustlers.
He charged other governors in the south to take a bold step in protecting lives and property of their people.
He, however, called for total restructure of the country, saying the country should have state and community police for proper security.
His words: ” Failure of former President, Goodluck Jonathan is what gave birth to incessant attacks of Fulani herdsmen.
“I have been seeing Fulani herdsmen since I was born and they have been living with us for a very long time without attacking us, but now they are carrying AK 47 around.
“We have to be security conscious because of the way Boko Haram members are being tackled by our security men in the north and I am suspecting that they may have infiltrated the fulani’s herdsmen in the southern region.
“Our governors must be vigilant and if I become the governor of Ondo State, protection of lives and property will be my major concern.
“I want the federal government to look into the issue of fulani herdsmen and also reform the constitution in order to give powers to states and even communities to have their own police.”
