Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has frowned at reports saying his state is part of those that have donated 55,000 hectares of land for the implementation of Federal Government’s grazing reserves for herdsmen.
The Federal Government had initiated the grazing programme as a means of ending the persistent Fulani herdsmen/farmers crises that has led to several death across the country.
Taraba alongside 10 other Northern states which includes, Adamawa, Gombe, Plateau, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Niger, Sokoto, Jigawa and the Federal Capital Territory are said to have donated 55,000 hectares of land each for the implementation of government’s grazing programme.
But Ishaku made the denial in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mr. Sylvernus Giwa.
The governor said “In order to put the record straight, the Taraba State government in as much as we appreciate the need for the creation of conducive environment for all categories of agriculture and pastoral activities, there is need for proper collaboration between states and federal government”
“The Taraba state government is therefore is not aware of any such agreement of land donation”.
