The Chairman, Task Force on Distribution of Petroleum Products in Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Bako, has warned fuel marketers against diverting premium motor spirit, better known as petrol.
Bako, who is also the Commissioner for Commerce in the state, gave the warning while addressing journalists in Kano metropolis on Sunday.
He warned that any marketer in the state found diverting petroleum products would be sanctioned and stands the risked of forfeiting the products.
The Chairman stated that the state government, in a bid to check fraudulent activities being perpetrated by unauthorised marketers, has directed all filling stations in the state not to sell petrol worth more than N5,000 to motorists.
“The idea behind setting up the committee is to reduce the hardship being experienced by the common man,” Bako said.
He further disclosed that the committee will soon commence night surveillance on filling stations so as to ensure total compliance with government’s directives.
