FRSC to begin full enforcement of speed limiters February 1, 2017

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has announced that violation of speed limiting devices, will start attracting fines from February 1, 2017.

This was revealed by the Corps Marshal, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, on Sunday in Lagos.

He noted that the FRSC has set the date for full enforcement to commence on the device.

According to Oyeyemi, the commission had commenced advisory enforcement to road users since October 1, 2016 and about 131,000 road users have been enlightened on the device.

“The speed limiter is on course; by Feb. 1, 2017, the full enforcement and implementation will commence. We commenced advisory enforcement some months back,” the FRSC boss said.

“So far, about 131,000 people have been given citation and enlightenment.

“We are on course because speed limit device is the solution; we will lead them to ensure they are safe and also prevent them from crashes.”

Oyeyemi said many drivers had yet to comply with the directive on speed limiters and has warned that violation would soon start attracting fines.
