Fresh attack in Jema’a, Kaduna reportedly claims 14 lives

14 persons have been reported killed while 17 others were injured during an attack by gunmen Sunday night at Ungwan Paa-Gwandara village in Godogodo Chiefdom of Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State.

Mr Joshua Paul, a resident of the community told DAILYPOST that the gunmen unleashed the mayhem around 8pm when unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent persons who were attending a wedding ceremony.

He said, “Nine persons were killed on the spot while 5 died this morning at the Kafanchan General Hospital.

“17 others including six children who suffered severe degree of bullet injury are still in a critical condition,” he added

Also, Mrs Victoria Martins, a victim who was being treated at the General Hospital in Kafanchan said that women and children were most hit during the attack.

When contacted, Mr Peter Averik, the Council Chairman who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview said although, he was yet to get detailed briefing on the development, security agents had since been drafted to the affected community.

Several telephone calls to Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer were not picked up.
