Six men were in the wee hours of Friday ambushed and killed between Shonong and Badok village of Riyom local Government Area of northern Plateau.
Chairman of Riyom Local Government, Josephine Piyo, disclosed this in an interview with Journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
According to her, “The victims were on their way from Shonong to Badok village and were ambushed and killed by gunmen,”
Noting that security agents had been informed of the incident, Ms Piyo said: “I reported the incident to the Special Task-force on Jos crisis, STF, I believe by now they should have gone there.”
The spokesman for the Military Task Force operating in the state, Ikedichi Iweha, who is an army captain, could not be reached for comments.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the attack in a telephone interview, but denied knowledge of the number of casualties involved in the incident.
DailyPost recalls that 12 people from four villages of the same local government were last week attacked and killed by yet to be identified gunmen. It was learnt that no arrest has been made till this moment.
