Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar has expressed sadness over his side’s defeat to Rennes in the French Cup final on Saturday at Stade de France.
Rennes defeated PSG 6-5 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the end of extra time to win their first trophy in almost half century.
PSG substitute, Christopher Nkunku blazed his spot-kick over the bar in the shootout, sparking scenes of joy among the Rennes fans at the Stade de France.
Dani Alves and Neymar scored two goals for Thomas Tuchel’s side, while Presnel Kimpembe scored an own goal and Edson Mexer headed in a 66th minute strike for Rennes to take the game to extra time.
Speaking after the match, Neymar was quoted by The National as saying: “I am sad.
“We weren’t quite up to it, but there is no point crying about it now. There is nothing we can do.”
