Four Turkish expatriates kidnapped at Gbale Village of Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state, have been rescued by the police in the state.
DAILY POST reports that the victims, Yasin Colk, (33), Senarapal, (40); Ergun Yurdakul (35); and Seyit Keklik (25) were kidnapped on July 22, 2019 in Kwara State.
Kwara state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, received the released victims on Friday, at the police headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital.
The four who are construction workers were kidnapped by gunmen at a drinking joint in Gbale Village of Edu Local Government Area.
The victims were said to be working with Instabul Concrete Limited in the village at the time of their abduction.
Reacting to the development, the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, through his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, thanked the security agencies and members of the vigilance groups for their efforts and the locals for providing voluntary information that led to the unconditional release of the abductees.
“This is a horrible crime against the innocent victims who had their freedom curtailed, the government also views the development as an assault on the peace loving people of Kwara State, and it will not go unpunished”, the state government stated.
The governor said, “The State government may therefore review and strengthen all relevant laws to ensure that anyone convicted of Kidnapping is severely punished in accordance with the law, keeping in mind the need to ensure the security of lives and property in Kwara state,” he said.
