Former Super Eagles midfielder, Thompson Oliha dies at 44

Thompson Oliha, who was part of the victorious 1994 team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, has passed on.

The former Super Eagles midfielder, died on Sunday morning at about 4.05am at the Yusjib Industrial Medicare Hospital in Ilorin.

“I feel so sad to confirm to you that Thompson Oliha is dead and by the time his wife brought him here, he body was completely lifeless,” Doctor Yussuf Addulraheem explained.

“His wife Irish Oliha told me that he slumped in the toilet before rushing him to hospital and there was nothing we could do to save him.”

As at the time of his death, Oliha was the head coach of the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) in Ilorin, Kwara State and took charge of KFA’s 3-0 win over a Malian team on Saturday evening.
