The remains of the former Ondo State Government House Protocol Officer, Mr. Bernard Daji was today laid to rest in his home town,Ido-Ani,Ose local government area.
The deceased lost his life with 14 others in the ill-fated Associated Aircraft on October 3.
He was buried at the Anglican Cemetery
shortly after a dedication Service at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Idoani.
Late Daji was among the four state officials sent by the state government to convey the remains of former Governor, Olusegun Agagu from Lagos State to Akure.
Before the late Daji’s corpse was taken to his home town in a long motorcade, there was lying-in-state and a short Service at the Governor’s Office,Alagbaka.
A service of songs was also held on Monday at his Akure residence, along Oda road.
The deceased humility, according to sympathizers prompted many civil servants, particularly those in the governor’s office to abandon their offices to give their departed colleagues the last respect.
Several Civil Servants, Governor’s Aides and his friends from the popular “SO” area ,along Oba-Adesida road in Akure where he grew up could not control their
emotions as they wept ceaselessly during the service.
In his sermon, Evangelist Sola Oki said God has a purpose for everything, adding that the death of Daji has an important meaning to God which human beings may not understand.
Oki noted that nobody has control over death because it is inevitable, stressing that “Daji was once alive but today he is gone.
“I know many of us will be asking why Daji? But who are we to challenge God? Nobody knows when he or she will die, how and where? In
this case, we should stop shifting blames on ourselves. Even our Lord Jesus Christ, who knew when he would die, prayed three times but later resolved that the will of God must be done and we all know how Jesus was killed, he was crucifiedwhich was one of the most painful way of killing people then.
“It is now. Left for the wife to hold on to God, because He is the only one who will never die and will never promise and fail. We human beings may promise you, but fail. Several people may promise you that they will act as husband, take care of your children, but don’t rely on them because they may fail. It is only God who will act as your husband,he will promise you and also fulfill His
promise” He said.
Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, Chief of Staff to the Governor,Kola Ademujimi, Commissioners, Head of Service, Toyin Akinkuotu, and Permanent Secretaries were among dignitaries at the event.
