The Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo has said former Ministers and Special Advisers of President Goodluck Jonathan lost their bid to secure the governorship tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in their respective states because the presidency was neutral in the process that produced candidates in the state.
This was disclosed yesterday in Sokoto by Sambo through his Special Adviser, Media, Umar Sani. The VP was in Sokoto to reconcile aggrieved governorship aspirants of the party in the state.
According to him, the presidency allowed delegates to choose their candidates without any form of influence. He said the reconciliation effort was yielding results as a lot of fences had been mended in the process.
“Prior to our visit to Lagos State, there were a lot of crisis in the state chapter of the party but the VP was able to resolve them all.
“What he did was he allowed the aggrieved aspirants to sit together and iron things out themselves and it was successful. The same thing happened in Kebbi State and we are determined to resolve the Sokoto issues,” he stated.
According to him, all issues concerning lower elections had been resolved.
“I am, therefore, optimistic that we are going to resolve that of Sokoto,” he said.
