Former Eagles defender, Okey Isima, is dead

Okey Isima, a former Green Eagles defender, passed on on Monday, after a brief illness.

Isima, was a member of the Nigerian team, that won the Nations Cup that was hosted in the country in 1980 and he also played at the Olympics that year.

“It was shocking. I never knew he was ill. The last time we spoke, he sounded healthy and there was no reason to suspect he was sick. This is a great loss to Nigerian football,” his former team mate, Christian Chukwu said.

Isima finished his playing career in the US, before he returned back to Nigeria to take up football management.
