Baring last minute change of mind, the immediate past deputy governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani is set to pitch his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress.

This is just as plans have been perfected by the ruling APC in the state to welcome him and over 1000 others to its fold

Lawani’s decision to quit the PDP might not be unconnected with the politicking that saw him lose his bid to become the state governor as well as an alleged grand plan to frustrate aspirations of the Idomas to rule the state by some Idoma political leaders.

DAILY POST gathered on good authorities that Lawani, who ran for the state’s number one seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and lost to the eventual winner, Terhemen Tarzoor has remained inactive in the party following the fallout of the election.

The former deputy governor believes that his failure to pick the PDP ticket was caused by some Idoma elders.

It was gathered that the governor met with some Chieftains of APC in Zone C recently in his country home in Otukpa to plead with them on the need to join the party.

“I can tell you authoritatively that Chief (Lawani) is ready to join the change train”, an insider who would not want his name in print said.

“The shocking thing is that he’ is not defecting alone, over 1000 supporters are ready to decamp with him. I’m glad he has seen the light,” the source added.
