The immediate past deputy governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani has won the All Progressives Congress ticket for Benue South senatorial ticket.

Lawani picked the ticket on Thursday at the primaries held at Apa Gate Hotel, Otukpo.

He narrowly emerged ahead of Dan Onjeh, chairman, BoT, Project Development Institute.

He polled 1321 to defeat Onjeh, who garnered 1059.

Egboja Akwuma came third with 21 votes.

Meanwhile, some supporters of Onjeh have kicked against the result, stressing that the former students’ union leader was rigged out by some party leaders.
