The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has described the extreme attention given to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) by President Goodluck Jonathan at the expense of the demands of the striking lecturers as “an uncaring attitude towards the future of Nigerian Students”.

The students’ body said it was not happy with the way president Goodluck is handling the ASUU’s Strike.

According to a statement issued by NANS National Financial Secretary, Comrade Timileyin Ayenuro, it is sad that Nigerian Students have been at home for over two months without the federal government finding a lasting solution to the strike.

He urged Mr. President to personally intervene in the matter instead of leaving just the committee headed by Governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suwsan to handle the crisis.

He said, “It is sad that ASUU has been on strike for over two months now without government acceding to their demands

“The committee set up by Mr. President to look into the matter has failed woefully, hence the need for the President to personally take over from the committee.

“President Goodluck has been having series of meetings towards resolving PDP crises but he has no time to attend to ASUU’s strike.

“If president Goodluck Jonathan gives maximum attention to ASUU strike as he is presently doing with PDP crisis, ASUU would have called of the strike by now”
