Flying Eagles battling high altitude in Burundi

Writer's picture: AdminAdmin

On Saturday, the Flying Eagles will begin the defence of their CAF U-20 Championship crown, with a game against Burundi in Bujumbura, which is above 2,500 feet above sea level.

Coupled with its high altitude, Bujumbura has an average weather temperature of about 29 degrees.

Burundi walked over DR Congo in the first round of the qualifiers, while Nigeria drew bye.

Head coach of the Flying Eagles, Emmanuel Amuneke, has travelled with the bulk of the team he won last year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile with and no local-based player.

There are notable names like Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chuwkueze in the squad.

Kick-off time on Saturday is 1pm Nigerian time.
