The Universal Basic Education Board, Edo State has expressed sadness over the death of a 13-year-old pupil who was swept away by flood, following a recent heavy downpour in the State.
In a statement released by the Chairman of the board, Dr Joan Oviawe, he said she had deployed field officers in the area to unravel the circumstances surrounding the pupil’s death.
“The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board regrets to announce the unfortunate death of Egbadon Overcome, a 13-year-old primary 3 pupil of the Idumu Ague Primary School in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
“We commiserate with the child’s parents and the entire people of Idumu Ague in Uromi over the incident. We will ensure that the issue is thoroughly investigated and work towards ensuring that such does not happen,” it stated.
Miss Egbadon Overcome was a primary 3 pupil of Idumu Ague Primary School in Uromi.
According to sources from the area, the ugly incident was as a result of a heaven downpour. Although the deceased’s body was recovered by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be fully unravelled.
