The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, on Wednesday sealed two companies in Delta and Edo States over N8billion tax indebtedness to the Federal Government.
FIRS sealed the companies during its Tax Enforcement action in the two states.
The Companies sealed include Bensegba Technical Services Limited and Okomu Oil Palm Plc at Kilometre 7 Refinery road,Ekpan and Okomu-Udo Communities in Uvwie and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas of Delta and Edo States respectively.
FIRS Team Leader, Enforcement Unit, Anita Erinne, tendered separate “Warrant of Distraints” signed by the Executive Chairman of the Federal Government’s Establishment, Mr. Tunde Fowler in exercise of powers vested in it by Section 3 of FIRS (Establishment)Act No.13 of 2007 and Section 44(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.
The warrant of distraint indicated that BENSEGBA Technical Services Limited is indebted to the FIRS to the tune of one hundred and twenty one million, one hundred and ninety one thousand, seven hundred and fifteen naira.
While Okomu-Oil Palm Plc is indebted to the tune of eight billion, one hundred and sixty million, fifty-two thousand twenty naira.
Erinne warned that until the companies meet their responsibilities with a view to liquidating their debts, no member of their staff should remove any of the FIRS seals.
Erinne stressed that stressing that if they do, their companies will pay a fine of two hundred thousand naira to the Federal Government Establishment.
The official called on the companies to comply with the tax laws and pay up their outstanding taxes, pointing out that the FIRS will ensure zero tolerance on defaulters.
