The administrative block of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Jos Network Centre, was yesterday gutted by fire which destroyed four offices along with valuable documents in them.
Eyewitness reports that the fire, which broke out around 3:30pm, would have razed the entire building, if not for the swift intervention of men of the state’s fire service who saved the situation.
It was gathered that among the offices and departments destroyed by the fire were engineering, finance and parts of the newsroom.
Meanwhile, what sparked the fire incident could not be ascertained as at press time.
While confirming the incident, the General Manager of the Plateau State Fire Service, Michael Dung, said it took his men some time to put off the fire. This was as he said the cause of the fire and the extent of damage was still under investigation.
Men of the State Department of Fire Service were assisted in putting out the fire by passersby and task force members on Jos crisis stationed at the media house.
