The Jigawa State Fire Service said at least twenty persons have lost their lives and 218 persons rescued in different fire incidents from January to June 2019.
This was stated by the state Director, Fire Service Alh.Ahmad Danyaro Gumel, while briefing newsmen on the directorate’s achievement in his office.
“218 persons were saved from different fire incidents across the state and 20 persons died,” he said.
He explained that from the period under review, 149 fire calls and 23 rescue calls were received by the directorate.
Danyaro said estimated properties worth 204,821,453.00 were also lost, while properties worth 290,021,109,000 were saved by the command.
He added that 12 animals died and 22 were saved from the fire incidents from January to June 2019.
The state Director said during the period under review, the directorate has recorded tremendous achievement including the procurement of Fire fighting equipment at the cost of over N6m.
