Residents of Kinkinau GRA, Ungwan Muazu, Nnamdi Azikwe Way in Kaduna state were on Saturday thrown into confusion as no fewer than three persons were reportedly killed as fire razed down an NNPC filling station (formerly Fasada fuel station) in the area.

The fire which lasted for over three hours, reportedly started at about 5:09 p.m, destroying about ten vehicles.

An official of the state Fire Service confirmed the death of the three persons, noting that fire fighters from the Service and the state Refining and Petrochemical Company, KRPC, battled to save the situation.

The unnamed official said the remote cause of the fire cannot be immediately ascertained as at press time.

He said, “Currently, we are more concern to bring the fire under control. Investigation will later reveal the remote cause of the fire,” he said.

A shop owner near the fuel station, Alhaji Babangida told New Telegraph that the incident occurred while fuel was being discharged by a fuel tanker.
