Aisha Yesufu, Co-convener of Bring Back Our Girls Group, has challenged the Nigerian Law School on rules preventing the use of Hijab during its call to bar ceremony.
This was in response to the controversy trailing the case of one Firdaus, a graduate of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), who was denied ‘call to bar’ by officials of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for failing to remove her veil, famously known as ‘hijab’.
The BBOG co-convener called for rules that hinder fundamental human rights to be addressed in order for the country to grow.
According to her, rules that segregate individuals should be challenged.
On her twitter page, she wrote, “Established rules and regulations that take away from one’s fundamental human right must be challenged else we would not have growth.
“If people refused to challenge segregation that was once established where would the world be today? Come to Twitter and go to court!
“It is just baffling the way people think when they hear the word hijab. Why are people afraid of the boldness of a woman who says i don’t need your validation for my beauty.”
