The world Football Governing body, FIFA has turned down request of the Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba, to be allowed to move over to an European club on loan, pending the opening of the next transfer window, in order to continue with his training even as the Chinese season has come to an end.

In response Drogba’s request, FIFA said: “We can confirm that the player, Didier Drogba submitted a request for authorization to be registered outside an open registration period for a club on a loan basis.

“FIFA has informed him about the relevant regulations… that players may only be registered during one of the two annual registration periods fixed by the relevant association.”

FIFA had said that such request could only be granted if Drogbe’s contract with the Chinese club had come to an end.

It has earlier been rumoured that Drogba had indicated serious interest to move back to Chelsea to continue training until the commencement of African Cup of Nations early next year.

The former Chelsea player will be away in China until 2015 when his contract ends.
