The Malawian FA has confirmed that FIFA has certified the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, as a safe venue for next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifying match between the Super Eagles and the Flames.

Chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda, said they received a letter from the world football body, assuring them over the safety of the venue.

“In the letter, Fifa admits that our concerns are genuine,” Nyirenda told the Malawian media.

Nyirenda also denied that their protest letter to FIFA, was targeted at stirring up any mischief, stating that they are ready to make the trip to Nigeria.

He said: “It is not like we said we do not want to travel to Nigeria, we are just waiting for the Nigeria Football Federation to provide us the guarantee. Once they do that, we will travel to Nigeria”.

Nigeria played against Kenya at the same stadium on March 23.
