FIFA’s World XI: Wijnaldum names players that should have replaced Ronaldo, Messi

Liverpool midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, has named teammates, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as the two players that should have been included in this year’s FIFA’s World XI ahead of Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi.

DAILY POST reports that Salah and Mane were not included in the line-up, which was announced at “The Best FIFA Football Awards” in Milan last week.

But Wijnaldum now believes that the duo should have made the team this year after their outstanding performances for Liverpool last season.

“Ronaldo and Messi will always be there [FIFA’s World XI] even if they haven’t had a great season. Maybe it needs to change,” Wijnaldum told The Athletic.

“I think Sadio and Mo should have been in there.”

“Different players have their own opinions,” Wijnaldum added. “I think for some they probably just wrote down what they regard as their best XI rather than who the best XI was over the course of the year, which is different.”
