FIFA presidency: Those calling on me to contest are great minds – Kalu

Football lover and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has described those tipping him as the next president of world’s football governing body, FIFA, as great and fertile minds.

In a statement issued by his media office in Abuja and signed by Mrs. Rubby Obinna, the politician said the ‘one million and one persons’ across the world, who want him at the helm-of-affairs of the FIFA, were really thinking success and have inspiring and motivating thoughts.

“I have known that the way to greatness is to stop asking for permission. That is to say that the people calling for me to join the presidency of the FIFA do not need my permission to do so. They perhaps knew that best things are done by those who know how to be best in those things,” Kalu said.

“Kalu had seen the call as an idea the persons had taken and they wanted to make that one idea to live, by putting all their energy in it. He saw the step as the way successes had been made the world over.

“It is our dream to pursue a cause in life, but what matters is the courage to pursue it. We have to always go out and get the best things for ourselves than wait for them to come to us. It is my idea that, that was what the persons calling me for the FIFA position were out to do. I can see their enthusiasm. Their energy is like the proverb, which says, ‘Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending, he turned into a butterfly'”, he added.

The business mogul further stated that “These persons are men and women of value and, this is why they are pursuing success. They can be seen as great minds and the world have seen they are discussing great idea. I value my time. That could be the reason these persons value me. If they had seen me as one who does not value his time, perhaps, they could not be putting in their energy on this cause”.

“I’m of the opinion that these persons have thrown the bricks at me while laying the foundation they want me to supervise,” Kalu concluded.
