Super Falcons defender Ugo Njoku, has been handed a three-match suspension by FIFA for dangerous play.
The player was also handed a CHF 3,000 fine, after she was found guilty of breaching Article. 48 par. 1 d) of the FIFA disciplinary code.
FIFA disciplinary committee reached the decision, after reviewing an elbow incident, involving Njoku during the match between Australia and Nigeria, at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Njoku will now miss the Falcons’ last group game against the USA on Tuesday and the remaining two will be served at any subsequent matches within the competition or the next two official games of the Nigerian national team, if they are eliminated on Tuesday.
The Falcons need all three points against the American ladies, to book their ticket in the quarter-finals of the competition. .
