FIFA Congress hit by bomb scare


Police in Zurich have confirmed that it has received a bomb threat at the 65th FIFA Congress in Zurich, Switzerland on Friday.

Officials of the world football governing body, are meeting to elect its next president, with incumbent Sepp Blatter facing a strong opposition from Prince Ali of Jordan.

Authorities received the information at about 11am local time and Police with dogs are reportedly searching the area.

“We can confirm the receipt of a bomb threat,” Zurich police said.

Blatter’s speech at the Congress, had earlier been disrupted by pro-Palestinian protesters, who called for Israel’s suspension from FIFA.
