FIFA commiserates with NFF over Okon’s death

FIFA has commiserated with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), over the death of former international, John Ene Okon.

Okon, who until his death was the head coach of Calabar Rovers, died on Tuesday after a brief illness.

In a letter addressed to NFF president, Amaju Pinnick and signed by president Gianni Infantino, the world football governing’s message read: “I would like to express my deepest sympathy on hearing the loss of the former Nigeria midfielder John Ene Okon.

“On behalf of FIFA and the worldwide football family, please allow me to extend my deepest condolences to the football community of Nigeria and, most importantly, to his family, friends and loved ones.

“We hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness.”
