Fifa have adjusted Nigeria’s fixture schedule for what promises to be a hectic summer in May/June.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are due to play at least 7 games between May 31 and June 23, with the possibility of another two by June 30, if they go all the way in the Confederation Cup.
“We looked at our fixtures for the summer and saw that it was too crowded, so brought Fifa’s attention to it, and they have effected some slight changes,” NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire told KickOffNigeria.com.
Those changes mean the Super Eagles will now play their 2014 World Cup qualifier away to Kenya on June 5, two days earlier than originally scheduled.
They will also travel to play Namibia in Windhoek on the June 12, two days earlier than the original schedule.
The squad will fly straight from Windhoek, via Johannesburg, to Belo Horizonte in Brazil for their opening match of the Confederation Cup against Tahiti.
That gives the Eagles at least three days of recovery time ahead of that game, which is scheduled for June 17.
Their other group games are against Uruguay on June 20 and Spain three days later.
Prior to all this, the team will fly to Houston, Texas where they play Mexico in a friendly on May 31.
