FIBA Africa: D’Tigers to take on Mozambique Wednesday

Nigeria’s senior national men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, will take on their Mozambique counterparts on Wednesday, as they seek to win their first FIBA Africa Basketball Championship.

The team finished the first round of the tournament with two wins and a defeat, but were defeated 67-54 by hosts Tunisia on Sunday.

Speaking on their ambitions, former NBA star Olumide Oyedeji, who is also the D’Tigers’ captain, told Complete Sports: “We were a bit relaxed in the game against Tunisia, but we need to do more and make sure we play more as a team and put in more energy because Mozambique are not easy. I know them very well, and for a team like that, we need to come all out against them.

“The defeat we suffered against Tunisia was painful, but we have put that behind us and moving forward. We are going to make sure that we win the match so that we can progress in the tournament.”

The winner of the Round of 16 game between Nigeria and Mozambique, will progress to the quarter-finals, while the loser will get classification.
