FG sets up panel on Task Force reports

As doubts continue to surround government’s sincerity on the implementation of reports on the petroleum industry, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Thursday established three committees to prepare a draft on the reports of the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force, the National Refineries Special Task Force and the Governance and Controls Special Task Force.

In a statement signed by the Presidential Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Dr Jonathan took the decision in line with the Transformation Agenda of his administration and in furtherance of the need for transparency in the oil and gas sector.

The work of the committees, whose members were picked from the Federal cabinet, is to study the reports, review the issues raised, and come up with White Papers for the consideration of the Federal Executive Council within two weeks.

The White Paper Committee on the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force Report is headed by the Minister of Labour, Emeka Wogu. Members are Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, Minister of State, FCT, Jumoke Akinjide, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II: Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed.

Also the White Paper Committee on the report of the Governance and Controls Special Task Force is headed by the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Ama Pepple. Members include Minister of State, Defence, Olusola Obada, Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar, and Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mallam Bukar Tijani.
