Chief Victor Oye, National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has disclosed that the security detail of the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano has been restored.
Oye, who briefed journalists at the party’s Secretariat in Awka commended the Federal Government for the restoration of the security of the governor ahead of the governorship election on Nov. 18 in the state.
Recall that Governor Obiano had on Tuesday raised the alarm over the withdrawal of his security detail saying that the act has put his life in danger, describing it as one of the Federal government’s tactics to rig him out of power.
But addressing journalists, Oye said the decision by the federal government to restore the governor’s security was commendable.
He said the intervention of the president made it possible for the security of the president to be restored.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to compromise a free, fair and credible governorship election on Nov. 18 in the state.
“The present administration in the state under the leadership of Chief Willie Obiano will give the INEC all the support to ensure a level playing ground.
“We will however not accept anything other than a free and fair election on November 18. APC, the ruling party in the country that is also contesting in the election must help to allow equal level playing ground to the political parties.
“If another party should win this state, they are inviting anarchy because Anambra is APGA, we have provided security to ensure peace before now in the state. Already some elements are gathering to destroy what the governor has done.
“How can people openly say that the election will be rigged, we cannot condone it,” he said.
He called on the president not to subscribe to the rigging of the election in the state.
He said the president had in the past eulogized the governor for his work in the state.
