The Nigeria government has condemned the Indonesia government over the execution of Daniel Enemuo and Solomon Okafor in the Asian country on Sunday.
The pleas for clemency by the Federal government and the House of Assemble to release the accused from the Indonesia authorities has since proved abortive.
The government of Indonesia still went ahead with the execution despite the cordial relations that subsists between Nigeria and Indonesia.
Daniel Enemuo and Solomon Okafor among others were sentence to death by firing squad which took place at the Island of Nusakambangu in Cilacap, Central Java Province.
Ogbole Amedu who is the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Spokesman in a statement yesterday adviced Nigerians to desist from drug trafficking which can land them in serious problem like the Indonesian case.
“The government will continue to engage the Indonesian authorities to negotiate and conclude a Prisoner Transfer Agreement that may enable other convicted Nigerians to return home to serve their prison terms. Thus, the Foreign Minister has summoned the Indonesian Ambassador to register Nigeria’s protest.”
He also pleaded to the Indonesia authorities to exercise clemency for other 12 Nigerians awaiting execution in that country.
