FG names newly established shooting range at Sambisa after late Abu Ali

The Federal government has named the newly established Nigerian Army shooting range at the Sambisa forest after the late Lt.-Col. Abu Ali.

President Muhammadu Buhari, the commander in chief of the Nigerian Armed forces said this at the opening of the 2017 Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship ( NASAC ) at Sambisa Forest in Borno State as he paid tribute to the gallant men and women who lost their lives to the battle.

Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Defence , Brig Gen. Munsur Dan Ali ( rtd) said the championship was to showcase the defeat and degradation of the Boko Haram terrorist group with the destruction of camp Zairo in the Sambisa Forest.

The military officer of the 272 Special Forces Tanks Battalion, Lt Col. Muhammed Abu-Ali was killed by the Boko Haram insurgents on November 4, 2016.

Ali, who was the Commander of an army formation at Mallam Fatori in Borno east, died in a battle on Nov. 4, 2016 alongside six of his men.
