In line with section 216 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, the Federal Government has amended the corruption charges filed against a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta.
The lead prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Olufemi Fatunde, announced the amendment on Thursday before Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court, Abuja
Fatunde, an ex- Director of Public Prosecution for the Federation, took over the case from the former prosecutor, Mr. Charles Adeogun-Philips last month.
She said, “The prosecution intends to amend the charges against the defendant in this matter.
“And pursuant to that, the prosecution has filed an amended charge dated March 13, 2017.
“The amended charge was filed on the same day and served on the same day.”
Meanwhile, the defence counsel led by Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN) did not oppose the amendment of the charges.
The details of the amendment has not been made public.
