The Osun State Governor-elect, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, has tasked civil servants to work hard and improve the state’s Internally Generated Revenue to build a self-sufficient economy, warning that allocations from the federation account to states may cease sooner than expected.
He commended civil servants in the state for their support for the outgoing government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and the level of efficiency, effectiveness and sacrifices they have put to bear in the civil service.
Oyetola gave the charge at a special Thanksgiving organised in his honour by civil servants in the state on Thursday, promising that his administration would redouble efforts to build a robust relationship between the government and the workers.
” I am indeed grateful and indebted to the entire workforce in the state for their supports for Aregbesola led administration and during the just-concluded gubernatorial election.
” I am also imploring them to put more efforts in increasing the Internally Generated Revenue of the state to make it self-sufficient and reliant for the benefit of all.
” It is instructive to note that allocations from the federation account may cease sooner than expected, hence the need for civil servants who are the engine room of the government to drive Osun to an economic sustainable status that will make government carry out statutory tasks of payment of salaries and emoluments, without blemish.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori in her address described the governor-elect as the brain behind the innovative panacea that ameliorated the tensed economic atmosphere of salary payment in the state, as a result of acute shortfall in monthly allocations to federating units, describing him as humble, amiable, gentle, brilliant and approachable.
Speaking in the same vein, the Head of Service in the state, Dr Oyebade Olowogboyega said the event was organised to express the workers’ solidarity and support for the incoming government.
